CPPE’s next learning campaign on learning disabilities begins this month with six challenges across six weeks.

About 1.2m people in England have a learning disability, which equates to approximately 2 per cent of the population. No matter which area of practice pharmacy professionals work in, they are likely to meet people with a range of different learning disabilities.

The learning disabilities learning campaign will challenge pharmacy professionals to ensure they are in a position to engage confidently in consultations with people with a learning disability and their carers.

There will be six challenges across the six weeks, culminating in obtaining a CPPE badge for completion.

As with previous campaigns some favourite challenges will be returning, such as the e-challenge and a new distance learning programme, which CPPE will post to every registered pharmacy professional in England.

CPPE is also planning some new challenges, including a Facebook Live chat on April 11. Like the CPPE page at facebook.com/cppeengland and pose your questions to the experts.

The learning campaign also challenges learners to adapt their practice in the form of a pledge to tackle the over-prescribing of psychotropic medicines to people with a learning disability, autism or both.
